Program Notes

Dakel Energy is a work for percussion quartet written for and dedicated to my good friends of Dakel Percusión (Chile). I had the pleasure of meeting these fantastic musicians at a festival in 2018, which eventually led to the start of a wonderful friendship and numerous collaborations. Dakel Energy sets to evoke the fiery musical spirit and flow of Dakel.

Instrumentation

Vibraphone
2 Marimbas — (1) low A, (1) 5-octave
Drums — mounted kick drum, 2 toms, bongos, 2 large drums (concert bass drum, large marching bass drum, taiko, or similar)
Cymbals — 2 suspended cymbals (medium and large)
